My name is Devin Whitlock and I write about gay comic books on the internet.
I have been a fan of comics since fifth grade when a friend gave me the Vision and Scarlet Witch miniseries and that issue of The Avengers in which Namorita turned into the Leviathan. As my enjoyment of the medium grew, so did my expectations of its aesthetic possibilities.
Since 2011, I’ve taken my love for comics and fostered a positive online and real-life community of people who share interest in comics and writing. Follow me on Substack for comics recommendations, comics industry news, and reviews of LGBTQ+-friendly comics.
If you’re in Chicago, I highly recommend joining the Chicago Public Library’s Comics Book Club. We meet in person on the third Wednesday of every month to discuss member-selected comics.
When I’m not working my day job, you can find me on stages telling stories at live lit showcases like Louder Than A Mom, Pour One Out, The Skewer, and others.
If you ask nicely, I’ll gladly share my knowledge of LGBTQ+ comics and industry happenings on your podcast, YouTube channel, or blog.

My YouTube channel started as a collection of storytelling I did around my home city of Chicago. It now features pop culture criticism (Quarantine Qritic);
